New England Dwarf Car Series
Tom Harwood Kicks off the 2025 New England Dwarf Car Series Season with a Win!
Claremont, NH- Sunday April 20 saw the 2025 season kick off. It was also Easter Sunday which put a little damper on our car count but the drivers in hand did not disappoint! Tom Harwood in the 29 and Cody Hodgdon in the 31 found themselves at the top of the speed charts after 3 rounds of practice.
Jason Hodgdon in the 31H made his return to the series after missing most of last season with medical issues. Jason Hodgdon would start on the poll in the lone heat race leading green to checker to take down the win. Cody Hodgdon worked his way from his 8th starting spot to finish 2nd and Bob Poloski in the 26 rounded out the top 3.
The zero chip was pulled meaning no invert for the feature. Father and son duo of Jason and Cody lead the field to the green. Cody Hodgdon jumped out to the lead on lap 1 and would lead the first 15 laps of the race. Harwood made the pass for the lead on Lap 15, with Cody Hodgdon falling back to second. Zig Geno in the 57 car took over the 2nd spot a lap later. Geno nor Cody Hodgdon had anything left to run down Harwood. Harwood took the win in the green to checkers event. Geno crossed the line in 2nd, followed by Cody Hodgdon in 3rd. In victory lane Cody Hodgdon let everyone know he had a bracket break on his rear end and the car was a handful. Jason Hodgdon came home 4th and 2024 Rookie of the Year Winner Ronnie Carman in the 07 debuting a basically new ride had a strong 5th place finish.
In post race technical inspection the 57 of Geno was deemed too wide and was penalized to the last car on the lead lap. Special thanks to all of the drivers, crews, family, staff and fans that joined us Easter Sunday!
The series has the upcoming weekend off before heading south on Saturday May 3rd to take part in Blast off Weekend at The New London-Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford,CT. In a change to the norm for the series this event will not see the drivers get in for free but will be a payout event paying a minimum of $80 to start.
